But now, I am in what most ladies call, the dreaded "middle stage": not short enough to be considered stylish, not long enough to be considered admired. Kiiinda... meh. So I am on a mission. I have a goal....to grow my hair out yet again. And I'm going to be asking EVERYONE for help. Can't wait to get everyone's input!
If you, too, can't stop thinking about growing out your hair, you've come to the right place.

You're my obsession....
If you have long hair, I see you. Creepy? Of course. Female or male, I am secretly admiring your hair. "Ah, look at how their hair flips around as they turn their heads," I think. It's all I see. Especially in San Diego, we have our share of beachy guys and gals with long, flowing, mermaid hair. I don't care if it's sunbleached, crazy-colored, or just plain fake. I am envious. I confess.
Last year, I did the honorable thing and donated my hair for Lent. My daughter warned me "this is how you are going to be," and she continued to make a sad face, complete with a bit of a whine. But I didn't listen. In addition to that, cutting my hair was not all altruistic. My hair was doing weird things after I gave birth in 2011. A lot had fallen out, and a lot was trying to grow back in. It drove me nuts. I knew I couldn't keep it. So, I figured that if I was going to have shorter hair, I might as well donate it to a good cause. So I did. And everyone was proud of me. And I dug my do for awhile.

I think you are gorgeous regardless if your hair is long or short or somewhere in between! :) But I GET this, because I too have become a bit obsessed lately here in growing my hair out! I whacked mine off last year and while I use to always wear my hair in the same cute pixie cut when I was younger, it just wasn't working for me now that I'm....well...significantly older....and I was misreable with my new shorter do. *sniff* My hairstylist didn't ease the pain much by telling me how hard it is to grow it out when we get older. Curse her!!! So needless to say, yes...I join you in your obsession here. :) I will say it is getting longer, but I still have a loooong (pun intended) way to go. I have noticed that as it is growing out how much thicker it is. I thought that it was just my imagination until my scissor happy stylist agreed and confirmed that indeed my hair is very healthy and thick! Okay! There's hope! I do attribute most of this to my awesome nutrition. :) I don't know if I have a quick solution for ya sista, but I mostly try to stay away from the chemically shampoos and conditioners and hair products in general (okay, I do color every 5 weeks...I'm human). I'm now looking into the Morroco Method hair products. They claim to be all natural, vegan, raw, gluten free, chemical free, etc. They even recommend something they call Lunar cut...only cutting your hair based on the astronomical chart or something like that. I'm not all that hokey-pokey but it has peaked my curiousity and the ingredients in their products do look very good. Here is their link: https://www.morroccomethod.com/ I'll be sure to check in now and then with you to see how your long hair quest is going and I'll keep you posted as to mine. Good luck my
ReplyDeleteGood luck my beautiful friend! :)
ReplyDeleteHey Amy!!! Thank you so much for writing and letting me know that you are on the same journey :-) And I love your descriptions ("scissor happy stylist"....hahahhaa!) I, too, have grown out my hair a few times in my life and I hear it is harder now that we are....over a certain age ;-) I am going to check out the Morroco Method, for sure! I have never heard of that, but it would seem like a good method would come from that part of the world, since the women there usually have great hair! I have been reading about growing hair for about 10-ish years and I will be posting about the method(s) I've used whenever I needed to grow my hair out. But I am always open to new ideas. And yes yes yes! Nutrition!!! That's why I still take the P90X multi-vitamin...because it has the hair and nail vitamins rolled into it :-)
